Buhari 2.0: Performance check Pt 2

It will soon be one year into the administration of this government. The nation is going through some hard times. The fuel lines are back, power supply isn't any better, the roads as bad as ever. We all know this story all too well. Can I be allowed to digress a bit,I was just distracted & I will like to share the distraction.
I am in a bus coming from church,I just saw a headline and it looked like the joke of the century. It read " things fall apart in PDP: opposition mounts against sheriff/fayose 2019 ambition"
Now you would expect that with all this downsides of this administration that the opposition will put its house in order and create an effective machinery to give the Nigerian populace a credible alternative to gmb's change accoutrement, please I crave your indulgence to use your own imagination to what I would say about that issue, I consider it a waste to try to explain the futility of the idea.
Back to our performance check.
It will be considered too nice and simplistic to give this government a 40% pass mark. The amalgam called Nigeria as with every other country on planet earth is very complex and most often than not never have yes or no answers. So I will take a few areas of the governance  and grade GMB by each one of them.
Corruption  20/100
This is the fulcrum of his administration, creating a country were lawyers are trusted & judges are considered just & fair. A country were there are sufficient checks & balances  on civil servants so they don't get comfortable with padding their budgets or getting kick backs, a system that rewards a policeman for doing his job right, but as we all know this has been far from the case. From no high
profile convictions to slam dunk cases being thrown out on petty technicalities at the supreme court. No one said the fight against corruption would be easy, but a lot more is expected from this government than any other previous leadership. The fight that the corrupt elements are putting up isn't a surprise after all if the nation previous status quo was good to you, chances are you wouldn't want a change. So sabotage can't be used as an excuse by the GMB leadership. I beg to differ they should get their acts together and deliver us a corrupt free nation.
Foreign policy 50/100
So far so good, many people would say the travelling is excessive, but I know after being thrown out of government once, knowing that the westerns power had a hand in it. GMB wouldn't want to make that mistake twice,he needs the international support wherever he can get it. So far it seems to have paid off,a lot of monies are being repatriated back to the nations coffers. (Interestingly Abachas's loot still hasn't finished  -how much did he steal?) From Dubai to UK to US almost every nation believes gmb is on course ,even the IMF & World bank have been at bay considering our forex policies are going against international fair trade rules. I expect more from our participation in  the African union and ECOWAS. With Bakassi peninsular crisis its long over due it seems to be metamorphosing into a hydra, on Biafra (internally) the cases of deaths and violence should be investigated and (externally) the truth should be told to counter the propaganda peddled by the IPOB.
Power 30/100
Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola our super minister has been up and doing his portfolio is the solution to the nations future, its the ministry that makes or breaks this administration.
From settling the tussle in abia state between the disco to inspecting the nation distribution and generating facilities across the nation he seems to know what he's up against, but the reality on ground is bleak. On thursday last week for some hours our entire output was zero. Now whatever  the reason was no matter how inexcusable it was,at the end of the day the common man was in the heat battling with mosquitoes without his standing fan supplementing his mosquito coil.
Again like every other APC apparatus has been saying and singing the sabotage song.Nigerians can be impatient at times, but in general we always suffer and smile, having said that, a state of emergency should be given in the power sector until we have at least 20 hours(maybe am being too optimistic) of light daily. Even if gmb doesn't achieve any other thing,if he gives us power,I can bet my life on it that he would win a 5th term of any election. The domino effect of steady power supply in Nigeria would put Nigeria among the top 20 economies of this world. Enough day dreaming ,our power output has dropped to just slightly above 2000+ MW from a peak of 5000+MW. Fashola promised again that we shall have the promised 10,000MW as gmb said in his campaign promise. So we are hopeful that that happens until then,I still score this administration low until I see visible increase in the daily usage.
In general
I can't even be fair to the various sectors because the budget hasn't been passed(or assented, gmb said he's being careful) so I can't give a fair judgement of this government
The budget hasn't been executed, so we can say the administration hasn't even started.
Buhari's administration is officially slow. They may be on track, but they would need to pick the pace up.
4 other things
* Ameachi can now resume his job as the transport minister (and deliver us results) and leave Wike alone to destroy himself (he's already a walking time bomb).
*Anambra state is lucky to have their present governor, I hope mr Obiano will be a knight in shinning armour for the eastern block in the future.
*malam Elrufai has proven again to be the intelligent man that he is,he's recent response to the apostle Suleiman was very mature & practical.
*Yes we all know Kachukwu isn't a magician and he is under a lot of pressure, but he sure expected the pressure and should be prepared for more questioning from the Nigerian populace. If he can't speak under pressure he should get a spokesman to answer the press.

  2. You don't think a governor who could publicly say he was assisted in his supreme court victory by the husband of a supreme court judge isn't a walking time bomb?
